Hide and Seek!

I have the best job! To think I get paid to talk about and study Judaism and personal growth with amazing women!!
On Thursdays I have a group we call Ladies STaG (Study, Think and Grow) and yesterday we spoke about  MIRACLES!

I heard a story about the Lubavitcher Rebbe of blessed memory. When he was a small boy in Russia he liked to play with the boys in the neighborhood. They, unfortunately did not have the same affection towards him. They would play Hide and Seek, Unlike the way we played the game in the US, where everyone hides and one person seeks, it was the opposite! There, it was KGB style! One person hides and everyone else seeks! So it was the young Rebbe’s turn to be the hider and he found a great spot. He waited five minutes, ten minutes, twenty….thirty minutes later he realized that no one was coming for him. He came out of hiding and sure enough the other boys had left.  He went home very sad and cried to his parents…”I was hiding but no one was seeking me!”  His father (or mother, not sure) said…”My child, please remember this when you are older. This is how the Shechina (Divine Presence) feels.

So we learned that we are living the game of Hide & Seek! Hashem is the “Hider” and we are supposed to be seeking! And the more we seek, the more Hashem comes out from hiding. And Hashem WANTS TO BE FOUND!

Our Sages gave us a morning blessing to help us with this:

Baruch Ata Ado-noi, Elo-haynu Melach HaOlam, pokeach ivrim

Blessed are You Ado-noi (our God) King of the Universe, for opening my eyes!
So I suggested a challange for us all…
During the month of Kislev, the month of Chanukah, the month of miracles, we might start saying this blessing each day, or if we are already saying it daily, we might say it with more “kavanah”, more intention, concentration and appreciation.
May we all merit to see Hashem in our lives!
Have a great Shabbos!

PS: Follow me on my journey to Israel with 13 other women from Denver and a total of 400 women from across the country, beginning Monday Dec 8th!

Be yourself. Everyone else is taken, and who else is better qualified?
Chaya
